Hello Troop, Matt Moore along with Mr. Eno and other adult chaperones will be organizing several hikes for the hiking merit badge this summer. We would like to open these hikes up to all scouts, even those not working on the hiking merit badge. We have limited chaperones for these hikes so there are limited spaces to go on these hikes. Scouts working on the hiking merit badge will have priority. Also these are strenuous hikes of 10 miles with altitude changes. First hike is scheduled for June 22nd, Mt. Garfield. If you are interested in going on the hike please sign-up and fill out the online permission form and we will notify you. Online form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1AXJAoYL8-11Q6m3k4256DpFyM-1b8_8A8n_qUcBmyeQ/viewform Scouts working on the hiking merit badge will need to meet at 6PM before the troop meeting (5/30) to go over the trail route. Upon its release during the summer of 2013, Sustainability becomes available as an option with Environmental Science as an Eagle-required merit badge. At that time Scouts may choose to earn Sustainability in place of the currently required Environmental Science.
We want to thank all of the Cub Scouts that attended our Open House event at Camp Allen on Thursday, November 8th. We hosted 11 Scouts and their parents to share in the patrol experience while making delicious treats over open fires and learning about our great Troop. I also want to thank our Troop 414 Scouts for making everyone feel welcome and for leading this terrific event.
